> Networking virtual or in‑person. Tips for HR and leaders who want to build meaningful and lasting professional connections.

##### Maintaining and expanding your networks can be difficult in times of Covid-19 especially if you are a working mum. So I was all the more delighted yesterday to be able to attend the „Success Circle for Career Mums“ yesterday. It’s a virtual networking meeting by women for women! The format always includes a keynote speech followed by virtual networking and discussion between the participants.

Yesterday’s keynote speaker was the inspiring **Adela Mehic-Dzanic**, a female tech leader, who gave us an insight into how she successfully **built** her **network** and **how she** now **maintains and expands** it **now that she is a mother**.  One way she does it through her podcast, „[Making it in Austria](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM7khR74lKhZaG-QAPAWyBA),“ which she created herself. Here are **her five top tips** for establishing **your own sustainable network:**

![🚧](https://hr-passionista.com/assets/emoji/1f6a7.svg) **Get** out of your **comfort zone** and **try** new **things** – because „this is where the magic happens“.

![📖](https://hr-passionista.com/assets/emoji/1f4d6.svg) Tell your **personal story**

![📪](https://hr-passionista.com/assets/emoji/1f4ea.svg) **Post** and **be active on social media** to increase your visibility. This doesn’t just mean giving the odd like or congratulatory message  – posting something yourself on a relevant topic is the way to go!

![💁🏻](https://hr-passionista.com/assets/emoji/1f481-1f3fb.svg) Only then can **others support** you and **build** a **relationship** with you and **connect** you with the **right people.**

![💪](https://hr-passionista.com/assets/emoji/1f4aa.svg) „You don’t have to walk alone“ – find supporters because

I couldn’t agree more with what Adela said yesterday:

> „When people come together, things start happening.“

### My conclusion

Anyone can build a good and extensive network, wheter you are **introverted or extroverted:** you **just** have to **be brave enough** to do it. The most important thing is to have **self-confidence** and **work** with acquaintances, friends and colleagues.

If you are lacking like-minded people, there are some really great internal & external **mentoring programmes** that are designed for that purpose. Where can you find this information? Online, of course, in **various** other **media**, or among **your family and friends, naturally.** Ask for **recommendations**! As the saying goes:

###### *„Talking brings people together!“*

In conclusion, it was an inspiring evening with many amazing powerful women and informative networking opportunities. When we support each other and don’t see it as a competition, we are stronger, regardless of our gender identity. **#TogetherWeAreStronger**
